Sago palm fronds, just beginning to emerge. (Copyright 2010 / Andrew Boyd)

After all of my Sago palm photography this last month, I thought I was finished shooting them for now…till this last member of the tribe decided to show signs of life! This Sago is the oldest of our plants and happened to be in the most exposed position this winter. It took all of our freezes extremely hard and I really thought it was a goner.

Then this past week:  presto! New growth, a real phoenix from the ashes! I was alerted to this by my sharp-eyed wife and stopped to make a few frames yesterday morning. It is beautiful and for me, a source of great abstract possibility.

Hope you like the photo!
