I have some more good news from the art photography side of my life: two of my photographs were selected for inclusion in the ‘Early Morning, After Dark’ exhibition opening today (June 24th) at the Minneapolis (Mpls) Photo Center in Minneapolis, MN. I was thrilled to learn that my work was chosen, first because the call for entries was international in scope, and secondly because the juror was Peter Howe, former Photo Editor of the New York Times Magazine and Director of Photography for LIFE magazine. So it looks like pretty nice company, all around, no?

The show runs from June 24th through August 13th, so if any of you are in the area, please check it out! The Mpls Photo Center looks to be a very cool place with exhibitions, workshops, studio and darkroom space, etc. I won’t be able to make the trip but all of us ‘out-of-towners’ are promised—what a great idea, no?— a video of the show hanging in the gallery space! This is amazing.

Here are my two images that were chosen:

Dreamy. Was this set originally on black-and-white or did you post-process the color?

  6. Shot as Raw files then processed.

    Andrew —

I visited the exhibition yesterday, June 28. As expected, there were many outstanding photos on display. After reading the “Call for Entries” and the Juror’s statement regarding the selection criteria for inclusion I can easily see why your two images were chosen. Your work fit very well with the theme of the exhibit and looked wonderful on display. There was also display copy of a paper-bound book that will be available containing all the photos. It would be a good addition to anyone’s photographic library.

I was encouraged and challenged by this exhibit! Congratulations!

  8. Hey Slobo,
Thanks so much for the information. You’re my first ‘boots on the ground’ report! I appreciate it.
