Hands are one of the most interesting and expressive parts of the human body. Our hands reveal a lot about us: whether we live a hard or soft life, whether we ‘work with our hands’ for our jobs (or don’t), maybe something about the type of work we do. They can also simply be great expressive elements, denoting excitement, calm, anger, even serenity or in the case of infants, innocence. So: go out and shoot a NEW photograph in which hands (or a single hand) are a central element. The only requirement is that the hands really tell us something about the person that the hands belong to, whether that person is in the frame or not.
We’ll keep this assignment up for about two weeks. You may submit up to two images for this if you can’t pick a favorite. Good luck!

I read the assignment announcement and started thinking of what I could use for hands. Late yesterday my daughter came and showed me her hands after she had been drawing with her charcoal. I immediately knew I had an entry to the challenge.

Nice images for 'Hands' Assignment!

I'll put one more in. The Saturday before Thanksgiving my church has a food market for those that can't afford a typical Thanksgiving meal. We serve over 100 families with it. We set up the food in the sanctuary on tables, and then the families come and "shop" for the items they want for their meal. Gift certificates are given to get a turkey from the grocery store since those aren't logistically possible to give out at the church.
The hands above are from two volunteers setting up a food table.
