The Panos Pictures photo agency, which specializes in global social issues, has a great new feature on their website called Profile Voices. It’s one of the ways you can check out the work of their very talented photographers. Go to the ‘Voices’ page and mouse around; different photographers’ names will pop up. Click on that photographer’s photograph on the page and you’ll be taken to a short video clip in which the photographer talks about the image and the story he/she was shooting and something about their thought process.
I think that understanding how a good photographer approached a subject, how he/she went about capturing the essence of a subject, is extemely critical to making great photogaphs and improving as a photographer. Take a few moments and listen to a few of these photogrphers’ stories. I promise that you’ll learn something new and maybe improve some aspect of your own shooting!
Good stuff indeed!
