Nice landscape photos from Rick Wezenaar Photography

Nice set of images on this photographer’s web site. Some HDR, some straight-up images.

Immersing Yourself in Your Subject by Scott Bourne at photofocus

Good thoughts here about why it’s important to really become ‘expert’ about any subject you want to photograph really well.

Brian Smith: Color and Burlesque (Video)  Many, many years ago, Brian Smith was a young photojournalist at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans. Now he’s a celebrity photographer, here doing a burlesque shoot (really an advertisement for XRite, but that’s okay).

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF-1 Camera Review at Digital Photography School

Well-done review of the new Lumix micro-four thirds camera from Panasonic. A sweet little camera that shoots great stills and decent video. No external audio jack though, a shame.

DIY: How to Make a Professional Softbox for under $20 at Phototuts+

This is for the hard-core do-it-yourselfer. I believe the $20 part, not so sure about the ‘professional’ part. One of the beauties a a good softbox is its ability to collapse into a light stand bag and travel with you. This thing looks a bit fragile and won’t be collapsible…but the illustrative photos are great and directions easy to follow.

How I Improved My Photography in One Evening  at Lightstalking

You’ll have to decide if he really improved his photography in one evening…or simply played around a bit with cropping.

Photographing Waterfalls by Mark Dubovoy at The Luminous Landscape

This is a really nice article. Dubovoy goes into lots of explanation about his creative thinking and problem-solving approach when shooting waterfalls, which he says are

exciting to be around but difficult to shoot.

  1. Some great resources here. I really like DPS and Luminous Landscape, the latter has some great technical articles, yet a little hard to navigate at times.
